Cannons Fire on All Cylinders, Shut Out Aviators to Move One Win Away From Championship Series
Alpharetta, GA - The Cartersville Cannons delivered a dominant all-around performance Friday night at Legion Field, blanking the Alpharetta Aviators 7-0 to move one step closer to a berth in the 2025 SBL Championship.
After four scoreless innings, the Cannons exploded for five runs in the top of the fifth, capitalizing on timely hitting and control issues from the Aviators' bullpen. Cannons outfielder Brady McDevitt sparked the offense with an RBI single and later came around to score one of his three runs on the night. Jack Holley then added a two-run single in the frame, and a walk and hit-by-pitch extended the lead to 5-0.
McDevitt stayed hot in the ninth, notching his third hit before Holley singled him over and eventually scored on a base hit from Aiden Boileau. A triple by Eastin added the exclamation point, pushing the Cannons' lead to seven.
On the mound, starter Brock Parker earned the win with five shutout innings, allowing just four hits while striking out five. Relievers for the Cannons combined to hold Alpharetta scoreless over the final four innings.
Alpharetta threatened in the late innings, loading the bases in the 8th and again putting two aboard in the 9th, but couldn't come up with a timely hit against Cartersville's bullpen.
With the victory, Cartersville moves just one win away from a berth in the Championship Series, with a chance to punch their ticket at home at Georgia Highlands later this weekend.
